Canadian Agricultural Partnership Program

Ontario Pork provides recommendations to Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada on the Next Policy Framework for the 2023-2028 Canadian Agricultural Partnership program

Ontario Pork was the first livestock commodity group in the province to set social responsibility benchmarks, demonstrating pork producers’ commitment to sustainable farming. Ontario’s pork industry is proactive in the use of environmentally friendly farming practices, as stewards of the land on which they farm. This is extremely important to the communities in which our members live and work, and to the business of farming.

The pork sector’s impact on climate change and reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG), as well as alignment with the Guelph Statement categories, is a priority for our organization and members. To be successful, there is a need for government assistance, support and funding to undertake initiatives. By working together, the pork sector, the government and the environment will benefit.
